RECODing Still

RECODing Still conceptualizes a static particle cell system rendered in respect to a dodecahedron movement.

RECODing Still

The most familiar dodecahedron is the regular dodecahedron with regular pentagons as faces.

Within the formed image, a dynamic movement formed and rendered, mirroring a repetitive action of the dodecahedrons.

Recode basically means to code again, and it is a term that is used to describe the process of making changes to the values of a variable. RECODing Still is developed to mirror this concept.

Aya Shabbar

Syrian visual artist working across new-media art, generative art, collections of information and data-driven machine learning algorithms, and print with a B.Sc. degree in engineering and computer science. Aya’s practice incorporates AI, computer graphics languages and new-media technology. The resulting works hold multiple dichotomies being both analog and digital, revealing a web of often overlooked relations. As a pragmatist feminist, inspired by Surrealism, Renaissance, and Donna Haraway's Cyborg Manifesto, Aya’s work incorporates new forms to investigate relationships between humans and power, subjectivity, truth and perceptions of reality, as well as our desires around new technologies.

RECODE Online Exhibition

RECODE has admitted a resonance of the culture of the creative coding community as a plural movement of interpretation, reclaim, revisit, and/or resignification of artworks and fundamental practices of early computer graphics and art and its subsequent works through the usage of contemporary media, tools, and technologies.

We invite you to explore how artists, academics, researchers, and practitioners explored and interpreted the notion of recode in their works.
