Chain of Thoughts
Hannah Yan
Singapore, living in the USA
Chain of Thoughts is a generative art piece that fuses elements of lyrical expressionism with abstract data visualization.
By blending the chromatic elements of music data with the spatiality of visual art, the piece merges the boundaries between the two, creating an immersive and contemplative experience for the viewer.
Using the Librosa library, I extracted the melody from an open-domain music piece played on a Portuguese guitar, and used the tempo of the beats to determine the angle of the radiant bands of color that make up the piece.
The project is a visual exploration of how our mind works, how thoughts and emotions are interconnected and how music can help to create a bridge between them.
Hannah Yan
As a generative artist and data scientist, Hannah blends her background in interdisciplinary spaces with her passion for abstract and contemporary art. She was selected as an Eyeo Festival fellow, showcased her work at the NEURIPS Conference's Machine Learning for Creativity and Design Workshop Exhibition, and distributed ten dozen donuts as an Artblocks artist. Her unique perspectives across data, ML, and creative coding enable her to bring new perspectives to the art and design world.
RECODE Online Exhibition
RECODE has admitted a resonance of the culture of the creative coding community as a plural movement of interpretation, reclaim, revisit, and/or resignification of artworks and fundamental practices of early computer graphics and art and its subsequent works through the usage of contemporary media, tools, and technologies.
We invite you to explore how artists, academics, researchers, and practitioners explored and interpreted the notion of recode in their works.
