let me hear your body talks

In my long term series "Body as Interface" I am exploring the possibilities of tracking body language to talk to computers. Our body is a natural tool of communication, why not use it instead of mouse and keyboard?

All prototypes of the series are created in a p5.js web environment with google’s open source body tracking algorithm mediapipe as backbone technology. Each experiment start with a playful gesture that I might use in my daily life. I then explore speculative interactions that these gestures could trigger on the screen. This merge of technologies opened up a huge sandbox of human-computer interaction for me. It evolved into an experimental playground where code becomes both tool and artistic device.

A special focus lies on movement, dance and bodily and facial gestures. I am fascinated by the variety and complexity of movements that we can create with our bodies and how they can be used as interfaces to manipulate the digital world.

The series prompts viewers to rethink their relationship with technology, viewing their bodies as dynamic interfaces for creative expression, as opposed to traditional input devices.

Hi, I'm Nahuel :-) I'm a creative technologist exploring the intersection of science, art and technology. I create visual narratives driven by curiosity and experimental play. To me, code is at the DNA of our digital era — it powers our economy, fuels the internet, and shapes communication at its core. I see creative coding as a playful method of accessing this fundamental layer. It allows us to dissect this strange material and reshape it into new forms. Essentially creative coding is applied speculative design, empowering us to explore and access technology and to ask questions rather than answering them.

Ludic Aesthetics Online Exhibition

Ludic Aesthetics Online Exhibition presents 15 works that explore ludic aesthetics as an essential way of reflecting, challenging, and creating meaning in society and techno-culture. The relationships between the works offer a diverse and dynamic showcase of playfulness at its core in creative coding and computation.

We invite you to explore how artists, academics, researchers, and practitioners explored and interpreted such a notion in their works.
